IGC 2005 (3)
"Free Software and Public Administration" Is the work group to stand out in the day of yesterday in the Internet Global Congress 2005. Interesting exposure of cases on as using and adapting Free Software to the public administration:
- Sant Bartomeu del Grau (town council of about 1200 inhabitants) complete migration to this type of tools.
- Extremadura, to highlight the identification of the software through the design of the icons, adapting them to the local culture making them identifiable easily.
- Andalusia, elaboration of a manager of contents through tools of free software.
Main arguments: Saving of licenses, not to oblige the citizen to buying proprietary software, versatility and functionality.
But what yes they had clear is that if to carry out a function or task with guarantees they have to implement the use of a proprietary software, they make it. The conditions has to be studied and according to that to be used a type or another of software, although if it is been able better free than owner.
To finish today, Thursday 9 of June, it| dines in the Princess Sofia. I share table with the people of the Observatory for the Cibersociedad and some members of Fundació Barcelona Digital.
