Improving management from the space
The town council of Palma de Mallorca "Cort", has started to use space technology to improve the management. Pedro Álvarez alderman of the area of exchequer and third deputy mayor is the instigator of all the process of modernization that the Balearic municipality is submitting to.
The recruitment of a satellite service to be able to update constantly the urbanistic database is the innovative initiative, which will replace what up to these moments was carried out with flights on the municipal territory with the consequent risk for all of them. They are several the advantages of this service but the economic saving, the elimination of risks and the constant updating already are reasons more that sufficient to justify it. Although only for the results obtained with this initiative, the admission of 1.5 million euros for urbanistic irregularities detected already is worthwhile.
We have to learn to look from the stars and to start to get used we can use "Google earth" or the most recent application of Microsoft "visual earth".
The information systems territorial every time they are more important, we do not forget them...
