l'Hospitalet and the Information Society
Today I've been in a presentation with my mayor (Hospitalet del Llobregat), Celestino Corbacho. He has showed 21 projects for the 21st century. This plan started in 1997 and the deadline is in 2010
A global plan well defined with a essential politic lead. But, but, but... There are something I've missed and it has been that in whole presentation he didnt speak about ICT's. Urban architecture, an economic district, mobility, social services. But, where is the Hospitalet citizens connectivity? And where is the access to broadband? And where is the citizen training in new technologies?... Where are the key factors to change the city into the information and knowledge society?
Celestino has wielded power reasons for execute this plan. To get a referred city, to promote economic activity, to get a city with own identity, etc. And it's true the city has suffered and important change the last years and the new chances for the next years have been for l'Hospitalet the key to be a comfortable city, with services, pleasant. Al last, a good place to live.

In my point of view innovation strategy and a strong lead for the new technologies have to be in the politic agenda and overall in the politic speech of the Hospitalet city.
To weave a city technologically prepared to get economic activity based on marks up will be the difference for whatever city in short term

But unfortunately, nowadays this sort of projects don't figure as a strategic action from Municipality Action Plan 2003-2007. In my point of view innovation strategy and a strong lead for the new technologies have to be in the politic agenda and overall in the politic speech of the Hospitalet city.
